Ordering
Placing an order is usually done verbally by calling Mark (503) 260-1972 or may be done through email communication. You can fill out a request form for a quote and a response will be sent to you usually the same day. You can then reply with an order and an indication of how and when the 25% deposit will arrive. You should also include instructions of how the shipping arrangements are to be handled.
If this is your first time setting up a Christmas tree lot we make the following suggestions for ordering: Size 6-7' trees are the most popular. You should order at least 45% of this size. Split the rest of the order 20% 5-6', 25% 7-8', 5% 8-9', and 5% other sizes or add it back to 6-7'. If you live in a very nice neighborhood, you should increase the percentage of larger trees. About 60% of your order should be Noble fir, and 40% Douglas fir. Go heavier on the Noble fir if you live in a high end neighborhood, and heavier on the Doug fir if you live in a low end neighborhood. Since Grand fir only show life for about 3 weeks after they are cut, we do not recommend them to first time buyers. After you get to know your customer base better, you may want to add about 10% Grand fir pulling back 5% from both Dougs and Nobles as long as you expect to sell them shortly after they arrive on your lot.
A typical tree lot owner just starting up for the first time in a good location will order 300-500 trees. If you have a better location add to this number. With an exceptional location you can expect to sell between 800-1000 trees your first year, especially if competition around you is limited. A typical first time order might look something like this:

Shipping
Our wholesale prices do not include shipping. In most instances we are able to arrange trucking for our customers and then let them deal directly with the trucking company to secure a date for delivery and make payment. You will find that you will save money dealing with the trucking company or broker directly. Some growers quote a delivered price and mark up the price of transportation. For the last several years trucking has run between $2 & $3 a mile. This year should be no different. It is better to book your transportation early as prices tend to go up as the season progresses. Some customers with smaller orders pick up their trees in their own vehicle or they rent a U-Haul or similar van. We can load approximately 300 trees on a 24' or 26' foot van. We generally get 800+ trees on a 48' or 53' truck. Our harvest crew takes a great deal of pride in seeing how many trees they get in any given space. In most cases we are able to match customers with smaller quantities going in the same direction and arrange for shared shipping. For example, a customer in Redding, CA may have 500 trees and customer in Sacramento may have 300 trees so they share a truck and split the cost. The cost to each is worked out based on the number of trees and the difference in miles.
